Certification and Education
Provocative Change Works (PCW) is a communication method created by Nick Kemp and inspired by Frank Farrelly’s work that uses unusual questions and deliberate challenges to help people break out of stuck thinking patterns.
It employs techniques like exaggeration, expressing doubt, and asking «What’s the problem?» instead of «What do you want?» to get people thinking differently about business challenges. PCW focuses on being very specific with language, working with what’s happening right now, and using over 40 different conversation styles to help transform limiting beliefs and improve workplace communication.

Applications of IEMT
- Traumatic experience: Facilitating emotional resolution of traumatic experiences.
- Problematic emotions: Reducing cognitive and emotional burdens from the past.
- Chronic Stress: Promoting resilience by addressing stress-related thought patterns.

Generalizations are a natural part of how we process the world—they help us make sense of things quickly and form patterns that guide our actions. However, they can also be limiting and misleading if not carefully examined. The key is recognizing when a generalization is useful and when it might cause harm.
External consultants, coaches, and advisors can provide 𝐟𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐡 𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐩𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐬, 𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐚𝐬, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐢𝐧𝐬𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭𝐬 that are hard to see from within your own world. Even just one hour of collaboration can offer significant value, with new ways of thinking that might transform your approach.
Many people believe they know what they want, but they often struggle with how to get started. They defer actions to an indefinite future, feeling overwhelmed by the complexity of planning. While they recognize the need for a plan, the thought of putting it down on paper feels like completely not doable. And keeping it all in your head rarely works—it lacks the structure and clarity needed to drive results.
FAQ
Provocative Therapy is a therapeutic approach developed by Frank Farrelly. It uses humor, irony, exaggeration, and even mild ridicule to help clients see their problems from a new perspective. As one of communication approach, the therapist plays the role of a «devil’s advocate» to provoke emotional reactions and encourage self-reflection.
PCW and Provocative Therapy stay respectful by always using the «talking as if to an old friend» approach — meaning you speak with genuine warmth and care even when being challenging. This creates a safe foundation where people know you’re on their side, so when you say something unexpected like «What’s wrong with that approach?» it feels like helpful curiosity rather than criticism. The techniques target stuck thinking patterns and limiting beliefs, not the person themselves, similar to how a caring friend might lovingly challenge you when you’re stuck in a rut. The provocative elements are carefully calibrated — they’re designed to interrupt unproductive mental loops and open new possibilities, not to hurt or offend. Think of it like a good friend who cares enough to ask the tough questions that help you see things differently, always with your best interests at heart.
